Country of Business

Douglas Laing & Co, established in 1948, is a respected independent, family-owned Scotch whisky business now in its third generation. With over 70 years of experience, they have perfected their processes to consistently deliver exceptional whisky. Until 2013, the company was led by brothers Fred and Stewart Laing, who decided to divide the company's assets and pursue separate paths. The third generation, represented by Douglas Laing's daughter Cara, joined her father, bringing her significant Scotch whisky expertise. The company, founded by her grandfather Fred Douglas Laing in 1948, has a rich history of blending its own whisky and maintaining relationships with Scottish distilleries.

Douglas Laing offers a range of brands, including the "Remarkable Regional Malts" collection, featuring various regional styles, and popular brands like Big Peat from Islay. They also offer the "Exceptional Single Casks" range, which includes Provenance, Premier Barrel Single Malts, Old Particular, and Xtra Old Particular, encompassing both malt and grain whiskies.

The company's focus shifted from exporting blends to bottling single malts, primarily for the UK market. In recent years, Douglas Laing & Co has expanded its portfolio, including the acquisition of Perthshire malt distillery Strathearn in 2019 and continued plans to build a new distillery in Glasgow, the Clutha Distillery, which has faced significant delays.
