Nestled on the captivating Isle of Raasay in the Inner Hebrides of Northwest Scotland, the Isle of Raasay distillery stands as a testament to tradition and innovation in Scotch whisky. Established in 2017, this distillery marked a significant milestone as the first legal one on the Isle of Raasay, owned by R&B Distillers, a company founded by Alasdair Day and Bill Dobbie in 2014.

The essence of Raasay's whisky production lies in its pristine Celtic Iron Age well, sourcing water with a rich mineral content, derived from the island's volcanic and sandstone rock formations. This unique water plays a crucial role in crafting the distillery's signature flavor profile. Raasay employs Italian copper pot stills for distillation and matures its whisky in a diverse array of ex-rye, chinquapin and burgundy wine casks. With an annual production capacity of around 200,000 liters of pure alcohol, the distillery has quickly made its mark on the Scotch whisky scene.

Set against the backdrop of the former Borodale House hotel on the island's southwest, the Isle of Raasay Distillery offers a unique visitor experience. Its 5-star-rated visitors' center, opened in January 2018, showcases the craft of whisky-making, and guests can revel in breathtaking views of the Isle of Skye. Additionally, a six-bedroom hotel on-site provides a cozy retreat for those eager to immerse themselves in the whisky culture.
